Spanish 1 Class Page
The final exam is approaching and we are hitting the home stretch!
Final upcoming assignments/due dates:
Wednesday 6/1 - all missing make-up work, etc. is due by today. Turn in homework calendars for grade. Ser/Estar quiz.
Thursday 1/8 - Map quiz (label countries/capitals) & final review day. Final exam extra credit due.
Homework this week:
Thursday night: Complete p. 4 (ser/estar packet) - don't forget to include the REASON of why you chose ser or estar - you can simply use the letter or word from the acronyms we learned today (COINED vs. HELP)
Study your list of adjectives (p. 11).
Friday night: Complete p. 5. Just like last night, write the reasons (there are blanks below each paragraph for you to write the reasons in).
Tuesday night: Complete p. 1: C & E and study ser/estar for Wednesday's ser/estar quiz.
Wednesday night: Study your maps for tomorrow's quiz, and look through your review packet and come to class prepared with any questions you may want me to answer or topics you want to review before the exam.
Thursday/weekend HW: STUDY for the final exam! Remember, if you want to check your review packet answers, you can come to my room after exams on Friday.
Bring to the exam: 2 pencils with erasers, any Ay, Caramba passes you have accumulated and your "Almuerzo Inteligente" VIP cards if you have been collecting punch stamps.

Fun ways to study for your map quiz:
Try a Sporcle quiz! Here are some good ones:
http://www.sporcle.com/games/Jam1/hispanophone-clickable
http://www.sporcle.com/games/senoraburks/name-spanish-speaking-countries-by-continent
http://www.sporcle.com/games/luv2travel95/spanish_capitals
Or, if you have a smart phone or tablet, go to the app store and look for "Tap Quiz Maps" (should be free). Practicing the North and South America and Caribbean sections will help you identify where each country is located. Plus it's fun!
Finally, here is the song "Rock the Countries" for South American countries/capitals. Enjoy (and good luck getting it out of your head)! ;-)

For final exam preparation, you are encouraged to look over the review packet file that is embedded here. If you would like to earn extra credit on the final exam, please follow these instructions carefully!
1) You MUST complete the composition (part O on page 5) first - this earns you your first extra credit point. It is required and can't be swapped out for another activity or skipped. Please write your composition on a separate sheet of notebook paper.
2) You may then choose other activities for up to 4 more points extra credit.
Activities that count as one point - C, E, F, I, K, L, M, N, Q, and R.
Activities that only count as 1/2 point each - A, B, D, G, H, and J
Activities that count as 2 points each - P and S
You are welcome to do as many practice activities as you wish - all of them will help you prepare for the final! However, the maximum extra points you can get on the final exam is 5.
